The course is designed for English speakers. As English and Portuguese are quite different languages, in most of the course I speak in English, so it will be easier for you to understand the main concepts, and it will make the transition to Portuguese smoother and easier to understand.

No previous knowledge of Portuguese is required. This course is made for any student who wants to improve it's Portuguese in specific scenario that might happen in Portugal. For example: at the airport, at the hotel, at the restaurant. However, if you are already an advanced level student, this course might not be for you since no advanced grammatical concepts or vocabulary are covered. 

 

The topics we cover are:

  • Pronunciation: you will learn from a native speaker how to pronounce the most common Portuguese words. You will be able to master the most peculiar sounds in Portuguese. 
  • Vocabulary: you will learn the most useful and common vocabulary that you can apply during your staying in Portugal.
  • Grammar: you will understand the logic and structure of the Portuguese language. 
  • Expressions and Idioms: you will remain fascinated by some of the Portuguese expressions and idioms you can use with the locals
  • Culture and lifestyle: in the course the are many references to the Portuguese culture, in other words how Portuguese are used to do things here in Portugal. That will help you to blend in with the locals and will avoid embarrassing situations.
