Days in São Miguel that I won’t forget
Olá a todos! Aqui é a Anita.
A few days ago, I took a small group of students to the beautiful island of São Miguel in the Açores, and I still find myself thinking about how special those days were.
It was a very intimate retreat where we could spend time together, practice Portuguese naturally, share experiences, and simply enjoy the island.
Everything there felt so tranquilo, verde e bonito. The landscapes almost don’t look real sometimes. We visited incredible places, breathtaking miradouros, green lagoons surrounded by nature, waterfalls full of energy and freshness, and, of course, we heard local legends and stories connected to the island.
Our guide Carlos made the whole experience even more special. You could really feel his love for São Miguel in every place he showed us.
One of my favorite moments was having lunch at the home of two of my students who live on the island. The atmosphere felt warm, relaxed, like a Sunday lunch with your family, the kind of moment that stays with you.
And as many of you already know… I LOVE cows!!!!
So my students surprised me with two little vacas called Miquelina and Umbelina, traditional São Miguel names. I think that says everything about the kind of memories we created together.
What makes me happiest is realizing that Portuguese with Anita is becoming more than just language lessons. It’s becoming a real community, almost like a family. 🧡
